Frozen shoulder does not have to freeze your whole life

When reaching, dressing, sleeping, or putting on a coat becomes painful, the shoulder often stops feeling like one joint and starts feeling like a locked block. Feldenkrais offers a gentle way to restore options around the painful area.

Gentle hands-on shoulder session

Sound familiar?

Simple reaches feel risky

Lying on your side, reaching into a cupboard, or lifting your hand over your shoulder toward your head can suddenly produce sharp pain.

Stretching makes it angry

Forceful shoulder stretching often increases guarding, especially in the painful freezing phase.

The rest of you compensates

The ribs, neck, opposite shoulder, and spine begin working around the painful side, creating secondary tension.

The shoulder is more than the shoulder joint

Frozen shoulder involves the glenohumeral capsule, but reaching also depends on the scapula, collarbone, upper ribs, spine, breathing, and pelvis.

Feldenkrais does not force the inflamed capsule. We restore movement in the surrounding system so the shoulder can stop being treated by the brain as one protected block.

How sessions help

Scapula and ribs

We gently distinguish shoulder-blade gliding from arm lifting, and restore ribcage motion beneath it.

Pain-free ranges

Movement stays inside comfort. The goal is clearer sensing, not pushing through pain.

Daily reaching

As the system softens, we reconnect the arm to practical actions like dressing, reaching, and turning.

Evidence-informed, honestly framed

Direct evidence is limited

There is no high-quality Feldenkrais trial specifically for adhesive capsulitis. I will not pretend otherwise.

The mechanism is relevant

Research on neck and shoulder pain shows Feldenkrais can reduce chronic guarding and improve movement awareness.

Timing matters

In the acute painful phase, sessions stay especially gentle. If medical red flags are present, I will refer you back for assessment.

Koby Firhi, Feldenkrais Practitioner

Hi, I'm Koby

I'm a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, trained at Instituto Feldenkrais in Barcelona. My work is based on Dr. Feldenkrais' original Amherst Functional Integration lessons.

Personally, this method completely removed my own shoulder and lower back pain. That experience is what drives me.

I now live in Amsterdam with my wife and three wonderful kids, and I work with people one-on-one from my practice here in the city.

What my clients say

I first came to Koby's Feldenkrais practice five months after surgery on my lower back. Weekly sessions with Koby helped to turn this around. Our sessions consist of gentle, intuitive movement combined with breathing and awareness. I find what Koby does to be safer than most yoga classes and more effective than conventional physiotherapy. Highly recommended.

I came to Koby as I had problems with my neck. With Koby I learned how to sit properly, how to exercise daily and how to be more conscious to my body. It made a great difference. Strongly recommend.

"But physiotherapy is covered by my insurance..."

That is a fair question

Physiotherapy is excellent at treating injuries, strengthening weak muscles, and supporting recovery after surgery.

Many clients do both

Many of my clients come after a course of physio. Physio addressed their symptoms, but the pain kept returning.

Feldenkrais works with habits

We look at the unconscious habits in how you sit, stand, and move that may be causing the strain.

Simple pricing

One session is €50. Most people feel a meaningful difference within 2 to 4 sessions.
